Perched on the top of a hill, surrounded by orchards, with incredible views and plenty of privacy, this beautiful former mill is set in 7,000 m2 of lush green gardens with a large variety of fruit and olive trees, providing a tranquil retreat away from it all in this verdant and highly sought-after region of Spain on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

Tucked away in its private location, yet close to the village and all amenities the Valle de Lecrín has to offer and with easy access to the coast and Granada city, this wonderful residential home, has two separate guest (rental) properties, and oozes character and charm with domed, vaulted ceilings and arched windows, typical of Moorish style Andalusian architecture.

As you enter the property through a driveway bordered by fruit trees, with panoramic views of the Valley and beyond, you’ll be hit by the scent of orange blossom and jasmine, immediately conjuring up your own magical hideaway.

There are two separate homes on the premises, both with their own gardens and private swimming pool and the addition of a self-contained apartment.

The old mill house

The current owners live in the former mill, with a fabulous circular living space that contains the restored mill press and features a high domed roof and arched windows all round to maximise the light and 360º views over our fabulous countryside.

This extraordinary open plan living area has a wood burning stove, ample dining space and an open kitchen separated by a breakfast bar that is fully fitted and offers all appliances for a modern lifestyle.

The room benefits from balcony doors on two sides; one leading out to a charming balcony with views to the west of the Lecrin Valley, and the other opening on to a spacious terrace with panoramic views to the South and connecting with the pool area.

The 3 spacious bedrooms, all with their own private bathroom and private access, make this a highly rentable property.  As an additional benefit, the third bedroom is laid out as a studio, with an open plan living/dining area, currently used as an artist’s studio, together with a kitchenette and direct access to the swimming pool area, providing a perfect annexe or self-contained accommodation.

The old cheese factory

Just below the mill is the old cheese factory, now converted into a luxury studio apartment with its own entrance and doors opening to the tranquil gardens.

The vaulted ceilings are a work of art in themselves, making this a very unique property with excellent rental potential.

The open plan arrangement offers a lovely seating area, a bedroom a kitchen and a convenient and modern bathroom, suitable for disabled people. As a bonus it has a home cinema installed with sound system.

The garden stretches into an enchanting area with many paths to explore and hidden entrances to secret gardens with hammocks and swing chairs, including a table tennis table and petanque court!

It’s impossible to list all the plants and trees in the garden due to the extensive variety, but there is a lovely mix of citrus trees, including lemons, lime and oranges, alongside pomegranate, almond, olives, grape vines and an abundance of tropical plants and flowers.

There is a large private parking area for guests and two parking spaces next to the mill.

In terms of energy efficiency, you’ll be pleased to know that this property has been set up with the latest in ecological and economic heating and cooling systems, using a heatpump in combination with the solar energy. Both homes have central heating throughout, with radiators in some areas and underfloor heating and cooling in others. There are also several fireplaces, wood burning and pellet stoves for atmosphere or occasional heating if you prefer not to have the central heating on.

13 solar panels provide green (and free) energy during the day and the lap pool has a pump for heating the water, which prolongs the swimming season significantly.
