We can’t believe it’s almost the end of another year and it’s been a pretty big year for us, with an office move and our busiest year so far in terms of Lecrin Valley property sales. Here’s our recap of another year helping to fulfil dreams.
2019 began with a busy New Year and then our move in February, when we moved upstairs to our beautiful new offices with incredible views across our lovely Valle de Lecrin.
We love where we are, and despite being so busy that we’ve still not got round to putting up a new sign(!), vendors and buyers know where we are, so it’s all working out very well.
With our more streamlined work environment, we’ve also looked to improve our marketing tools, including the use of a professional photographer and more virtual tours to give potential buyers a “first viewing” before they take the plunge and book plane tickets.
We have also extended our team, which already has native speakers in English, French and Dutch, to include a PR, marketing and social media professional to increase our presence online and extend our reach further afield.
So how’s the market looking?
We have been hugely busy, with no slow-down towards the end of the year either, which is a great sign.
Since the market started picking up in 2014, there has been a lot of movement, particularly in the last three years, with 2018 being a peak year.
This year however, we’ve managed to beat 2018 in terms of sales, helping even more people to find their place in the sun.
Prices are still stable (technically rising slightly, but very slowly). Turn-key homes (those ready to move into with no work) are still by far the most popular, but we’ve noticed a trend for “project” houses with an increase in sales of houses that need work – from complete ruins to some refurbishment or updating needed.
A very positive sign is that we’ve also sold some plots of land for new houses to be built, and higher segment properties have continued to sell as well as last year.
What’s been great to see is that in contrast to the last couple of years, there has been a marked increase in sales to expats looking to settle here permanently – both young families and retirees.
We feel privileged to having been able to help so many people find a home in our beautiful Lecrin Valley. We’ve made a lot of new friends this year, and the positive feedback is of course the best reward of all: we feel very grateful to be able to do what we do, surrounded by wonderful people.
After such a busy year, we’re looking forward to the Christmas break to recharge our batteries, so the office will be closed for two weeks over Christmas and New Year.
Our last day in the office is Friday 20th December, and we’ll return on January 6th, ready for what we already know is going to be an even busier year!
We can’t wait to see who we meet in 2020 and look forward to making many more dreams come true!
