Record number of Spanish properties sold to foreign buyers in 2018

While Brexit fears may be gripping the UK and affecting the UK’s property market, British buyers and other Northern Europeans are still buying throughout Spain, with a record number of Spanish homes sold to foreigners in 2018.

After the previous record of more than 60,000 transactions set in 2017, last year upwards of 65,500 homes were sold to non-Spanish buyers. These numbers have been released by the Spanish Property Register.

Despite Brexit, or possibly because of it (who knows!), British buyers still accounted for a small majority of foreign purchasers, followed by other European nationalities.

Springtime is a very popular time of year for foreigners to view and commit to Spanish properties, and for those wanting to live in one of the more authentic parts of Spain, then the Lecrin Valley is definitely a great place to buy.

While the Costas are popular for holidaymakers, many people wish to be away from the crowds. The Lecrin Valley offers buyers of both holiday or permanent homes, a stunning part of the country, an authentic and slow-paced lifestyle, all within easy reach of one of Spain’s most beautiful cities (Granada) and one of its most unspoiled coastlines – the Costa Tropical – with seaside towns including Salobrena, La Herradura, Almunecar and nearby Nerja – and many beautiful villages just off the beaten track.

There are beautiful properties for all levels of budget in the Lecrin Valley, awaiting a new owner – Spanish or foreign. Please take a look at our website or give us a call and we’d love to help you find your dream property and, who knows, we may even help to make 2019 another record year!
